A FountainEarth leather belt takes approximately 18 months from first concept to final product. Not because leather belts are complicated to make — but because the decisions we refuse to rush determine whether the belt lasts for years or for months.
Month 1-3: The design question
Every FountainEarth belt begins with a question: what problem does this belt solve that our existing range does not? For the Smart Fit No-Hole Belt: sizing frustration. For the Executive Brogue Reversible Belt: versatility — one belt for every occasion a working professional faces.
The nib motif is not placed on the buckle for decoration. It is the registered mark of origin for a product that earns the right to carry it.
Month 3-8: Material sourcing
Sourcing LWG Certified natural leather means sourcing from tanneries that have already passed independent environmental audits. Not all tanneries in India are LWG rated. Finding the right tannery — one that meets both quality and certification standards — takes time.
LWG certification requires annual renewal. FountainEarth's sourcing relationships are ongoing — not one-time purchases.
Month 8-14: The IP filing
Before a FountainEarth belt goes to production, the design is filed for registration. The nib motif on the buckle. The brogue perforation pattern. These are registered industrial designs — filed across 35 countries before the product reaches a single customer.
65+ design registrations. 4 registered trademarks in India. The result of decisions made in favour of originality.
Month 14-18: Production and the Warranty
Production in Mohali, Punjab. Crafted at SA8000 certified and ZDHC compliant facilities. The Lifetime Service Warranty does not begin at sale — it begins at manufacture. Every belt is made to the standard the warranty requires.
