How it is used

• Smart Charging Diary. A5 hardbound diary in smooth-plain genuine leather (not croco, not pebbled — smooth finish to match the desk-piece aesthetic). Cover integrates a Qi wireless charging pad on the front: place a Qi-capable phone (iPhone 8+, Galaxy S6+, all current flagships) on the diary cover, and it charges wirelessly while you take notes.
• 10,000 mAh built-in battery. The diary cover houses a 10,000 mAh lithium battery — enough to fully charge a typical phone 2–3 times. Recharge the diary via the USB-in port on the spine.
• USB-out port. A USB-A port on the spine allows wired charging via the user's own cable — for older phones, wired earbuds, or any USB-powered accessory.
• 200 ruled pages. FSC-certified ruled paper inside the leather cover — full notebook functionality preserved alongside the charging electronics.
• FountainEarth wordmark debossed on diary backside. Quiet branding on the back cover so the front charging surface stays clean.

Made in Bharat at our Delhi workshop

FountainEarth is a Made-in-Bharat brand. The smart charging diary is contract manufactured to our specifications at a partner facility that builds electronics-integrated leather products. Unlike our standard leather pieces (which are hand-stitched at our Delhi workshop), the smart diary's combination of leather, wireless-charging electronics, lithium battery, and USB circuitry requires manufacturing facilities our Delhi workshop doesn't carry. The finished diaries are quality-checked at our Delhi workshop before each set ships. The cover leather is genuine smooth-plain — selected to give a clean surface for the wireless charging pad without texture interference. The pen is also contract manufactured to spec at our brass-pen partner facility and quality-checked alongside the diary.

The diary cover is smooth-plain genuine leather; the integrated electronics carry the manufacturer's electronics warranty in addition to our 1-year FountainEarth warranty on the leather cover and finish. The pen is solid brass with gunmetal plating throughout. Because the integrated electronics manufacturer is a separate partner, the diary is not covered by our Lifetime Repair Service (which is reserved for hand-stitched leather pieces). The standard 1-year warranty applies.

How to care for the set:

• Charge the diary fully (via USB-in on the spine) before first use.
• The wireless charging pad on the cover works with Qi-capable phones — place phone on the cover's charging zone (centred).
• Avoid placing the diary in direct sunlight for prolonged periods — heat affects the lithium battery.
• Do not immerse in water. Wipe leather with a soft dry cloth.
• When the pen cartridge runs dry, swap the G2 refill via the rear barrel.
• Store the set in the FountainEarth gift box between uses.

Frequently asked questions

How does the wireless charging work?
The diary cover contains a Qi-standard wireless charging coil. Place a Qi-capable phone (iPhone 8+, Galaxy S6+, all current flagships from Samsung, Google, OnePlus, etc.) flat on the front cover of the diary, centred on the charging zone — the phone begins charging wirelessly using the diary's internal 10,000 mAh battery. Both the diary and the phone show a charging indicator. Typical full-phone charge from empty: 1.5–2 hours.

How do I recharge the diary itself?
Plug a USB-C or USB-A cable into the USB-in port on the diary spine. Connect to any standard 5V USB power source — a wall adapter, a laptop, a power bank. Full diary recharge takes about 4–5 hours. A small LED near the port indicates charging status.

Is this set covered by the Lifetime Repair Service?
No — the Lifetime Repair Service applies only to hand-stitched leather pieces. The smart charging diary involves integrated electronics manufactured by a partner facility, so it carries a 1-year warranty (leather cover + electronics) instead. What refill does the pen use?
The Gunmetal Diamond-Cut Brass Pen in this set uses the G2 standard ballpoint refill in blue ink — the most widely available refill format in India, starting at around ₹50 at any stationery store. G2 refills are NOT compatible with Schmidt-format pens (used in our other five brass pens); they are a separate format. Specify "G2 ballpoint refill, blue, standard" when buying.

Is FountainEarth the same as Fountain Earth?
Yes. Same brand, same workshop. FountainEarth is the compound brand mark; Fountain Earth is the spaced form we use in legal and trade contexts.

Does it come gift-ready?
Yes. Every piece ships in the FountainEarth signature gift box — sleeve closure, foiled with the brand wordmark. Suitable for gifting without extra wrapping. For corporate orders we have two tiers: plain corporate orders start at a 10-unit minimum; custom-branded orders (gift box co-branding, monogramming) start at a 25-unit minimum, with a typical 4–5 week turnaround.
